Mount Tamalpais, California, United States

Mount Tamalpais is a mountain peak in Marin County, just north of San Francisco, California, United States. Much of Mount Tamalpais is protected within public lands such as Mount Tamalpais State Park, the Marin Municipal Water District watershed, and National Park Service land like Muir Woods.

The Mount Tamalpais route is a very popular route among cyclists, you can definitely feel it when you ride the route because you are going to meet many other cyclists riding on the route. The route is pretty long and difficult with a lot of climbs and downhills, but the views along the route are stunning. So get ready and have a joyful and exhausted ride!

The route starts at parking lot of Meadow Golf Club at 1001 Bolinas Rd, Fairfax, and quickly starts to climb along the Fairfax-Bolinas Road toward Alpine Lake. After come climb, then you rewarded with a long downhill to the Apline Lake. After passing the Alpine Dam, get ready for another steep climb all the way to the top, which is an intersection of Fairfax-Bolinas Rd and West Ridgecrest Blvd.

The route becomes relatively easier after reaching the top but it is not flat by any means. Keep on the Fairfax-Bolinas Rd and eventually it is a big downhill leading to the Shoreline Hwy which is a part of California 1. Enjoy the Shoreline Hwy as much as possible before the route starts to climb again heading to the Panoramic Hwy through Frank Valley Road and Muir Woods Road.

Ride toward west on Panoramic Hwy, switch to Pantoll Road and then W Ridgecrest Blvd, the route heads back to Fairfax-Bolinas Road and the ending spot.
